James Miles was born in 1622 in the parish of Llanfihangel, Radnorshire, Wales. He immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1681-1682, with four sons and a daughter, and settled in Philadelphia. He died after 1692. His son, Richard Miles, was born ca. 1654. He married Sarah Evans, daughter of John Evans, in 1688 at Radnor, Pennsylvania. They had nine children. He died in 1713. Robert Dool (1789-1829), son of Henry and Margaret Dool of Grange Township, County Antrim, Ireland, married Margaret Speers (1794-1883), daughter of John and Mary Speers who eventually settled in Ohio. Robert and Margaret immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1819 and later settled in Ohio. Many of the family later moved to Mercer County, Illinois. Descendants lived in Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, California, Colorado, Missouri, and elsewhere.

He married Anna Catharina Levering, daughter of John Levering and Magdalena Boecker, in 1692 in Germantown, Pennsylvania. They had eleven children. He died in 1734 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio and Texas.

James Speirs was born in Scotland in 1724. His parents were Robert Speirs and Mary Fyfe. He left Scotland in 1746 and moved to Ireland where he changed his name to Speers. He married and had six children. He died in 1788. Many of his descendants emigrated and settled in Canada. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ontario, Sakatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.
