Martin Underwood was born in 1596 in England, and married Martha Fiske. They immigrated in 1634 to Ipswich, and settled in Watertown, Massachusetts. He died in 1672. Includes Howard, Jones, Smith and related families.

Andrew Thompson (b. 1750-1760) was born in Ireland and immigrated to America in the early 1770s. He eventually settled in Wythe County, Virginia. He was the father of eight children. A number of his children remained in Wythe and surrounding counties. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Minnesota, Utah, Arizona, Canada and elsewhere.

Michael Wittel was born in 1797 in Betzingen, Wurttemberg, Germany. His parents were Johann Wittel and Anna Stump. He emigrated in 1818 and married Nancy Frownfelter in about 1823, probably in Pennsylvania. They had five children and lived in Cranberry Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Michael died in 1877. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived in Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina and elsewhere.
