Bernard Steer of Crediton, Devon, England, died in 1587, leaving a wife, Joan, and six minor children. Record follows line of descent to Thomas Steer (1822-1900). He was born at Winkleigh, Devonshire, England, the son of William Steer (ca. 1789-1830). He married Grace Mitchell (1822-1912), in 1842. They had nine children, 1844-1862.
