Description
George Stocking was the first member of the Stocking family to settle in America. He arrived in Massachusetts in 1633. George was the father of four children. His only son was Samuel Stocking (1652- 1683) who married Bethea Hopkins and was the father of nine children. Descendants live throughout the United States.

George William Stocking (1834-1924) was born in Hambden, Ohio, son of William Hurd Stocking (1805-1910) and Harriet Rebecca Elliott. He married Emeline Ludlow Petersen in 1856. They later lived in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. Wilhelm Louis Albright was born in Germany and immigrated to the U.S. before 1857 when he married Maria Catherine Sherloh in Putnam County, Ohio. Descendants lived in Florida, Australia, Cuba, New York, and elsewhere....

Jonathon Stokes came to Boston from England in about 1748. He was the father of Jonathon Stokes of Branford, Connecticut who became a sea captain like his grandfather, Richard Stokes. The second Jonathon Stokes married Hannah Goodrich and they were the parents of two children. Descendants married into the Stocking and Stephens families.

Hiram Richardson was born in 1828 near Norfolk, New York. He married Emily Louise Lewis (1835-1910) who died in Tacoma, Washington. Andrew Mickel (1780-1841) was buried at Turin, New York. He was married to Cynthia Mead (1790-1879). Jane M. Fairfield (ca. 1824-1899) was born in New Lebanon, New York and married Horace A. Stocking (1819-1905) in 1840. They moved to Minnesota and many descendants live in Washington.

Joseph Horace Stocking (1879-1946) was born in Herriman, Utah to John Jay Stocking, Jr. and Hannah Cook. He was the nephew of Wilford Woodruff. Horace grew up raising sheep in Herriman. In 1898 he married Martha Jane Butterfield (1880-1962) and they became the parents of five children. They later moved to Burley, Idaho where he continued to farm. Descendants live in Utah, Idaho and other parts of the United States.
