Carolyn Jane Greer was born 27 May 1922 in Pella, Iowa. Her parents were Thomas Nathaniel Greer (1896-1975) and Sarah Clementine Hampton (1896-1962). She married Howard E. Beal (b. 1917) 2 June 1940 in Nevada, Iowa. Carolyn died 1998. Ancestors of Carolyn and Howard have lived mainly in Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.

Joseph Southwick (1809-1849) was a descendant of William and Mary Butler Southwick. His first wife, Mary Ann Martin died in 1846.
