John Parham was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1711, the son of John and Hannah Parham. He married Margaret Swanson, daughter of Christopher Swanson, in the Old Swedes Church in 1735. They had four children. He died in 1750 in Philadelphia. His son, William, was born in Philadelphia in 1737. He served with the Pennsylvania Rifles during the Revolutionary War.
