Theobald Mechling (d.1765) and his brother, Jacob immigrated with a group of Palatinates from Germany (via Rotterdam) to Philadelphia in 1728. There is a possibility that the Mechlings came from Strelitz which is located in Mechlinburg, Germany. They engaged in the tannery trade while living in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Lincoln Collen Carson was born in about 1817 in Bradley County, Tennessee. His parents were Absalom Carson and Martha Glass. He married Mary Ann McGovern (1826-1886). They had eleven children.
