John Swartz, perhaps the son of Peter Swartz, who arrived in America in 1754, lived near Woodstock, Shenandoah County, Virginia. He died in 1817, and named in his will his wife, Susannah Lehman, and eight children. His son, Phillip Swartz (1788-1866), married Regina Funkhouser in 1816. They had five children, 1817-1829. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and elsewhere.

Theobald Mechling (d.1765) and his brother, Jacob immigrated with a group of Palatinates from Germany (via Rotterdam) to Philadelphia in 1728.
