Arthur Tappan (1786-1865) was born in Northampton, Massachusetts and became a New York businessman. As an individual, he opposed the American Colonization Society and supported the anti-slavery causes. He and his family later moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where he remained active in anti-slavery movements and in the American Missionary Association.

History of Sarah Homes Tappan (1748-1826) of Boston, Massachusetts. Her great grandfather, Rev. William Homes, emigrated to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts from Londonderry, Ireland in 1705. She married Benjamin Tappan (1747-1831) in 1770. Includes extensive ancestral information, as well as names, birthdates, marriage dates, dates and names of spouses of children and grandchildren.

Description
Robert Topham lived in Linton, Yorkshire, England and made his will in 1550. His descendant, Abraham Toppan, lived in Yarmouth, county of Norfolk and came to Massachusetts in 1637 and settled in Newbury. He married Susanna Taylor (1607-1689). Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Indiana, Ohio, New Hampshire, and elsewhere.

Description
William Varney (1608?-1654) married widow Bridget (Knight) Parsons in 1629, and in 1634 the family immigrated from England to Ipswich, Massachusetts. Charles William Varney I (1835-1884), a direct descendant in the eighth generation, moved from New Hampshire to Berwick, Maine and married Rachel Taylor Parker in 1857. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, Missouri, Colorado, Texas, California and elsewhere.

Description
Thones Kunders (1653-1729), a Quaker, married Lentgen Doors Matteisen in 1677, and emigrated from Germany to Germantown, Pennsylvania. A son, Cunraed Cunraeds (1678-1747), also a Quaker, married twice (once in Germany) and also immigrated to Germantown. Descendants (chiefly spelling the surname Conard, with some spellings of Conrad, etc.) lived throughout the United States. Includes some ancestry in Germany.

James Harper and his wife, Jannett Lewis, had five children born in Ireland. The family immigrated to America in 1720, settled first at Casco Bay and then moved to Boston because of Indian troubles. Their son, John Harper (1705-1785) was born at Linnwady, Parish of Newton, County Derry, Ieland. He married Abigail Montgomery in 1728 at Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
