William Willis Teague (1840-1912) was born in Pope Co., Arkansas to Jack (or John) and Permelia Davis Teague. He married (1) Louisa Bennefield (d. ca. 1866) ca. 1861; (2) 1868 Amanda Safard Crites (1847-1917) also born in Pope Co., Ark. He had twelve children. Descendants live in Arkansas, Texas, Virginia, California and elsewhere.

Early tradition says that the Teagues came from Virginia into North Carolina and settled in the central part of that state sometime in the early part of the eighteenth century.
