Margaret Lawrence was born in England about 1710. She was charged with thievery in London and transported to the colonies bond as a bonds-woman for 14 years. Her contract was bought by Tobias Phillips and she worked as a domestic servant on one of his Virginia plantations. She also bore him two illegitimate sons. Chiefly a record of some of the descendants of Alexander Stewart. He was born between 1752 and 1755 in Calloway, Scotland. He immigrated to America ca. 1773. He married first Mary Anderson. She was born ca. 1760 in Virginia. She died after 1793. They were the parents of eight children. He married second Catherine Sheets. They were the parents of one child. He died between January and August of 1835 in Kentucky.
