Edward Thurlow Weed was born near Acra, Greene County, New York, in 1797, the son of Joel and Mary Ells Weed. His family moved to Onondaga County, New York, in 1809, and there in 1811, he became an apprentice in the office of the "Lynx" newspaper at Onondaga Hollow. He then worked on a number of newspapers. He married Catherine Ostrander, daughter of Moses and Clarissa de Montford Ostrander, at Cooperstown, New York, in 1818. They had three daughters....

William Henry Jordan was born on Mount Desert Island, Maine in 1821. His parents were Melatiah Jordan and Susan Richardson. He married Margaret Thurlow in 1845 in Bucksport, Maine. They had four known children. Traces their ancestors and descendants in Maine, New York, Massachusetts and elsewhere.

William Hearl was born by 1660. He married Patience Etherington. He died in 1730. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Maine and Massachusetts.
