The founder of the Bowdoin family in North America was Pierre Baudoin. He and his wife Elizabeth (c. 1643-1720) has four children, the first three born in France and the fourth probably in North America. In 1686 Pierre and his family moved to North America. James Ira Jones was born 18 October 1878 in Boone County, Indiana. His parents were James William Jones (1848-1936) and Margaret Ellen Slain (1848-1921). He married Minnie Rozella Sparrow (1885-1981), daughter of Alfred Sparrow and Hannah Bannon, 28 November 1906 in Lebanon, Indiana. They had six children. James died in 1977 in Sheridan, Indiana. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Indiana and Michigan.
