Joseph Tomlinson was born 1824? in England. He married Mary Beesley in 1846 in Franklin County, Indiana. During the Civil War, he enrolled as a private in the 120th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry, 1 January 1864. He died at Lookhouse Hospital, Tennessee, July 12, 1864.

Thomas Tomlinson Jr. immigrated from England in the late 1600s with his widowed mother and three brothers. He settled in Edge Hill and then Bensalem, Pennsylvania and married Joan Walmsley in 1719. He died in 1764.

Colbert Blair married Sarah Morgan in Pennsylvania before 1750. He later settled in Virginia and then North Carolina where he died in 1805. Descendants lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, California, Washington, and elsewhere.

Peter Tomlinson came to America as a young man from Liverpool, England. He first arrived at Baltimore, Maryland, and later lived in Franklin Co., Indiana. He married Mary Beesley (1826-1911), who was also born in England, and immigrated to Franklin Co., Indiana with her parents at the age of five. She was a daughter of Isaac Beesley and Elizabeth Buckley. Descendants live in Ohio, Virginia, Indiana and elsewhere.
