Thomas Brigham was born in about 1603 in England or Massachusetts. He was the son of John Brigham (of Yorkshire, England) and Constance Watson. Thomas married Mercy Hurd in about 1631 in Massachusetts. They lived in Middlesex Co., Massachusetts and were the parents of three sons and two daughters. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas and elsewhere.

He married Rebecca Emily Dotson 28 November 1872 in Leadville, Colorado. Edwin and Charles also lived in Colorado and worked with George in the mining business. John Toole (1756-1792) immigrated from Ireland to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, served in the Revolutionary War, and married Ruth Ann Rankin in 1779/1780. They moved to Washington County, Greene County, and Knox County, Tennessee. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and elsewhere.
