"The first record we have of our ancestor [Yeamans Gillingham] in Pennsylvania is from the Middletown Monthly Meeting Records where he is mentioned as being a witness to the marriage of William Smith, of Yorkshire, England to Mary Crossdale, at the house of John Chapman, in Bucks county, "the twentieth day of the ninth month, 1690". ... "Yemans is said to have come from the south of England, [Kent or Dorset] supposed sometime between 1683 and 1690."--p....

William Henry Smith was born 14 June 1814 in Suffield, Connecticut. He married Julia Pauline Hannon 23 May 1849 in Montgomery, Alabama. They had eight children. William died in 1890 in Montgomery. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Connecticut, Alabama and Texas.

Jacob Duck (1753-1836) was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, served in the Revolutionary War, and moved to Mifflin (later Centre) County, Pennsylvania. "He is buried in Heckman's Cemetery, Penns Valley, Centre Co., Pa."--P. 11. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Kansas and elsewhere.

George Maris (1632-1705) and his family, Quakers, immigrated from England to Chester (now Delaware) County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri and elsewhere.
