Jacob Bertschinger was born 29 April 1716 near Zumikon, Switzerland. He emigrated in 1735 and settled in Pennsylvania. He married Magdalena Bechtler (1708-1774), daughter of Georg Bechtler and Elizabeth, 5 April 1736. They had four children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania.

He was a descendant of John Tyson (born ca. 1635) of Northampton Co., Virginia . Jehu married Mary Elizabeth Patillo 9 November 1848. They lived in Villa Rica, Georgia and were the parents of four sons and three daughters. Descendants lived primarily in Georgia.

He was a Mennonite who became a Quaker after his arrival, and married Margaret Kerndess about 1684/1685. Thomas Fitzwater (d.1699) and his family, Quakers, immigrated from England to Philadelphia in 1682, and settled in what became Fitzwatertown, Bucks (now Montgomery) County, Pennsylvania. Minnie Augustine Hopp (1900-1986) was born at Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Edgar Hopp and Hulda Scholbe. Edgar was born in Russia and Hulda (b.1874) was born in Germany. Hulda's mother was Caroline Clouse. Minnie married Bernard Franz Brandt (b.1896). He was the son of Bettina Brandt of Lima, Ohio. She had four brothers: Harold, Al, Edwin and Richard Hopp and a sister Mary. Includes Minnie's personal papers.
