Johannes Zimerman and his wife, Emma (Anna) Schneider, Mennonites, had seven children, ca. 1818-1838, born in Baden and Alsace-Lorraine, Germany. The oldest son remained in Germany, but his son and the seven other children immigrated to the United States, ca. 1849, and settled first in Indiana.
