John Eaton (d.1668) and his family emigrated from England to Colchester (now Salisbury), Massachusetts during or before 1640, and later moved to Haverhill, Massachusetts. Eaton Grange was the summer home of the Eaton family near Sutton, New Hampshire, developed in the early nineteenth century. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Montana and elsewhere.

Matthew Harvey, son of Jonathan Harvey (1725-1764) and Susanna George (1727-1817), was born in 1749 in Amesbury, Massachusetts. He settled in Perrystown, New Hampshire (later called Sutton) in 1774. He married Hannah Sargeant (1761-1827). They had seven children. He died in 1799. The family papers include history of the Sutton and surrounding areas.
