Peter Hileman was born in 1749 in Alsace-Lorraine. His parents immigrated to the United States when he was two years old. His mother died during the voyage and was buried at sea. His father, Chistian Hileman settled in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Peter moved to Kitanning Township in Armstrong County in 1795 or 1796.

John and Mary Bowser had nine children, all born in Pennsylvania. John died in September 1813 in Hopewell Borough. He was a Revolutionary War veteran.
