Roelof Cornelissen Van Houten (1628-1672) immigrated from Holland to New Netherlands in 1636/1637. He settled first at Rensselaerswyck (Albany, New York). He married twice and was the father of five children. He died at Bergan, New Jersey. Descendants lived in New Jersey, New York, and elsewhere.
Includes the Ackerman, Blauvelt, Doremus, Post, Van Alen, Vreeland, and other related families.

Jacob Janse Gardenier was born in about 1618 in Kampen, Overysel, Holland. His parents were Jan Gardinier and Aeltie. He emigrated in 1636 and was apprenticed to a silversmith in Albany, New York. He returned to Holland in 1642 and married Josina. They settled in Albany and had eleven children. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Kansas and elsewhere.
