Description
Ferdinandus VanSicklen, was born in Ghent, Belgium, in 1635. He later emigrated and settled near Coney Island, New York. It is believed that he is the ancestor of all American VanSickles. He married Evan Jansen, the daughter of Anthony and Grietje Jansen. Most members of the family moved about 40 miles west into New Jersey near Somerville. Description
Zacharias Sickels settled at Albany, New York and married Anna Van Valkenberg, the daughter of Lambert Van Valkenberg, in 1660. They were the parents of nine known children. He married (2) Maria Brevoort in 1693. They had one son, Sacharias (b.1698). Other branches of the family are treated in this part of the publication. Several generations of descendants are given.
