John Alma Vance, son of Isaac Young Vance (1818-1898) and Martha Eleanor Yager and grandson of John Vance and Sarah Lavinia Perkins, was born in 1847 in Winter Quarters, Nebraska. He married Maria Forbush in 1869 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died in 1886 in Fairview, Utah. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Utah.

Hugh and James Cleland were likely the sons of Arthur Cleland who appeared on the muster roll for Down in 1631. James Cleland married Margaret Jameson 14 November 1694. Descendents lived in Ballywoollen, Carsonstown, and Derryboy Samuel Cleland, born about 1800, emigrated to Ohio, and became minister of Newman's Creek.

John Puckett (d. ca. 1677) immigrated to Elizabeth City Co., Virginia in 1637. He acquired land in Henrico County in 1665 and probably married widow Anne Jefferys. Descendants often moved westward.

James Kiddoo (1762-1823), of Scottish lineage, married twice and lived in Washington (later Allegheny) County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Washington and elsewhere.

John Vance (1769-1835) and Margaret "Peggy" McGovney (1783-1835) were married in 1802 in Adams Co., Ohio. He was born in Berkely County, West Virginia (formerly Virginia). He had also been married to Mary Crosen (d. 1790) and to Dianna Linn (d. 1798). He had twelve children whose descendants scattered throughout the United States.

Michael Vance (1802-1871), son of John Vance and Elizabeth Long, moved with his parents from Somerset County, Pennsylvania to Preble County, Ohio in 1807, married Rebecca Mills in 1822 in Montgomery County, Ohio and lived near Pyrmont, Montgomery County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Florida and elsewhere.
