Leota Mae Vance was born in Utah in 1929. Her great grandparents were among the early Latter-day Saint pioneers who came to Utah. She married Dean Fillmore and was the mother of at least one son. Her information on her ancestral lines makes up this collection of materials. Most of her ancestor were long time residents of the United States but at least one line comes from England about 1850.

Isaac Reno Vance was born in 1863. His parents were John Wesley Vance and Angelia Vail. He married Marintha Althera Martin. Includes five of his journals written from 1883 to 1889 and 1926 to 1930. John Alma Vance, son of Isaac Young Vance (1818-1898) and Martha Eleanor Yager and grandson of John Vance and Sarah Lavinia Perkins, was born in 1847 in Winter Quarters, Nebraska. He married Maria Forbush in 1869 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died in 1886 in Fairview, Utah. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Utah.

Hugh and James Cleland were likely the sons of Arthur Cleland who appeared on the muster roll for Down in 1631. James Cleland married Margaret Jameson 14 November 1694. Descendents lived in Ballywoollen, Carsonstown, and Derryboy Samuel Cleland, born about 1800, emigrated to Ohio, and became minister of Newman's Creek.
