Huldah Dimrus Vaughn was born on 11 February 1808 at Elizabethtown, Leeds, Ontario, Canada. Her father was George Cathles (Charles) Vaughn and her mother was Elizabeth Morgan. She first married Alpheus Harmon whom she gave nine children. She married, after Alpheus' death, Lorin Bassett by whom she had four children. She died in Clarkston, Cache County, Utah on October 12, 1886. Lorin died between June 1880 and July 1881.

Information on Vaughn family members from census, probate, and other records gathered in the author's search for the family of her ancestor, Huldah Dimeras Vaughn Harmon Bassett (b. 1808). She emigrated from Canada to Pennsylvania, then migrated to Ohio, Iowa, and across the plains to Utah. The author concludes that Charles Vaughn of Erie, Pennsylvania, who died ca. 1857 at age 84, was probably her father. Includes Francis and related families.

Thomas Powell (1616-1687), yeoman and colonial immigrant, was of Isle of Wight Co., Virginia. A great grandson of Thomas Powell, John Powell, was listed on a 1733 deed as being a planter, carpenter and cooper. Eleanor Simmons (1942-1998) was born at Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Harold Reece Simmons (1920-1973) and Gerturde Croft Vaughan Simmons (b. 1922). She married Roger William Rankin in 1964.
