Greenbrier County kept taxpayers lists by years, 1782 one list, 1783 there was five lists, 1784 two lists, 1785-1786 one list, 1787-1798 two lists, 1799-1800 one list. From 1801-1850 they kept two lists. There was no tax collected in 1808, the General Assembly did not pass tax collecting legislation for that year.
Greenbrier County was part of Virginia until 1863, when it became part of West Virginia.

Accomacke County covered the Eastern Shore which included the counties of Accomack and Northampton. Northampton County was established in 1634 under the name Accawmak (spelling varies) and the name was changed in 1643 to Northampton. Accomack County was formed from Northampton in 1663.
