Michael Heiderscheidt, son of Johannes Heiderscheidt (d. 1830) and Catherine Schneider (1786-1855), was born 27 April 1815 in Pratz, Redange, Luxembourg. He emigrated in 1846 and settled in Iowa. There were a number of Whitings who eventually immigrated to America from England. The earliest known Whiting to immigrate to America was James Whiting who came to Virginia in 1617. James was born in England in 1609. He married Ann, who was probably also English. Their son was Henry. Descendants also lived in New York, California, Indiana, Tennessee, and other areas.
