James Skaggs of Rockingham County, West Virginia, was a frontier Baptist preacher. In 1772 sixty families left West Virginia with Daniel Boone to settle in Kentucky. James Skaggs led half of the families to Bush Creek Valley in what later became Green County. James died in 1780. His wife's name was Mary.
