This book deals with families descended from Roger Moody, who lived in the area now comprised by Marion and Dillon Counties, South Carolina. Roger Moody (b. ca. 1785) married Nancy Turbeville (b. ca. 1795) in 1813; they had seven children. In 1834, the family migrated to Covington County, Alabama. John Carpenter was born in Germany ca. 1700 and came to Virginia in 1721 with his brother William Carpenter. The family name was also known as Zimmermann. John married Anna Barbara Kerker ca. 1721-1725. He died in 1782 in Culpeper County. The family settled in Culpeper and Madison counties, Virginia.

Michael Wilhoit was born 7 September 1685 in Mentz, Germany. He married Mary Blankenbaker in 1706. They emigrated in 1720. He died in 1746 in Orange County, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Utah.
