Descendants of Asa Weatherford born ca. 1812 in Green Turtle Key, Bahamas. He married Polly (Margaret) Breman (1815-1892) 1832 in Abaco. He was naturalized in Key West 1837. She died in Key West, Fla. They had two sons: Augustus (b. ca. 1834) married at Key West in 1860 Melinda Curry; and John William (1838-1923), who married at Key West in 1867, Romalda Curry (1845-1920).

John Bennefiel (b.ca.1640) emigrated from England to New Jersey. Descendants spelled the surname "Benefiel" and lived in New Jersey, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Texas and elsewhere.
