Henry Goding was master of the British ship "Abigail" which visited Massachusetts Bay in 1628. His son, William Goding, was an apprentice in 1640, to Comfort Starr, of Cambridge and Duxbury, Massachusetts, but later returned to Middlesex County where he died. Descendants lived in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota and elsewhere.

Ludowick Hawksie, a Quaker, according to tradition, emigrated from Scotland in the middle of the seventeenth century. He settled in that part of Sandwich, Massachusetts, known as Spring Hill. He married Mary Presbury in 1664. They had eight children, 1665-1681. Descendants to the sixth generation, listed, lived in Massachusetts, Maine and elsewhere.
