Samuel Webber was born in 1760 in Massachusetts. He entered Harvard in 1780 as a student and spent the next 30 years allied with the school as teacher, student, and then university president. In 1789 he married Rebecca Smith and they had seven children. From 1806 til his death in 1810 he served as president of Harvard University. This biography deals with his accomplishments and descendants.

John Webber, was born ca. 1700, son of James Webber, of London, England. He immigrated to America in 1722 and settled at Rehoboth, Massachusetts. He married Hannah Rounds, 4 May 1737. They had eight children. He died 25 Sept. 1759. Richard Webber, their son, was born 7 Oct. 1739 in Rehoboth. He married Sarah Clark (d. 1792) 25 Sept 1768. They had ten children.
