Henry Nell was born in Germany or Switzerland. He was the son on Karl Nell who lived in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany in the last part of the 18th century. Henry immigrated to America with his brother Charles and they landed at the port of Baltimore 22 August 1802. Henry settled in Reading Township. Adams Co., Pennsylvania. He married twice and was the father of eight children. Descendants lived primarily in the state of Pennsylvania.

Andreas Wentz was born ca. 1725. He immigrated from Germany and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 28 August 1750. He married Catherine Churtz and moved to Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina. Later, Andreas married Sophia Stanford. He was the father of eight known children. Descendants lived primarily in Arkansas, North Carolina, Texas and elsewhere.

He and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, were the parents of seven children. Their eldest son (b. ca. 1740) stated that he was a native of Monongahela, Chumberland County, Pennsylvania.
