Samuel Lee was born 27 February 1778 in New York. He married Anna Brown in about 1802. Sometime later, they moved to Upper Canada (now Ontario). Samuel and Anna had seven children born in Canada, namely: Abner, Arvin, Eliza (Nancy), Alfred, Stephen, Vincent, and Palmer. In May 1837, the entire family moved to Crawford County, Ohio.
