Descendants in the "name" line of Phillip Hurtzig (b. ca. 1600), a merchant in Stockholm, through his son, Peter Hurtzig, a lieutenant of the Royal Swedish Engineers, who, in the entourage of Field Marshal Horn, died defending Stade, Germany in 1676. Thereafter the family is in Germany. One branch of the family emigrates to New York, changes their name to "Wiese," and moves to Oregon.

Research into the Alaskan life and wanderings of Julius Wiese (1858-1928), the fourth child and last son of Hans Wiese and Antji Steffens, who had immigrated from Germany to Iowa County, Iowa. Julius was born in Davenport, Iowa, and after his Alaskan wanderings, married Marion E. Hendricks in 1924 in Auburn, Washington. He died in Tacoma, Washington. Includes genealogy of the Steffen family back to about 1657 in Germany.

Gabriel Kalkbrenner (b. 1797) and his son Domion (1826-1889) left Edigheim in Baden, Germany and immigrated to America. They settled in Belleville, St. Clair Co., Illinois and there Domion married Katherine Lang 21 April 1851. Domion and Katherine had at least four children born to them in Belleville. Freidrich Wilhelm Dommer was born 24 October 1830 in Polednower, Prussia. His parents were George Dommer (1790-1853) and Anna Ernst (1795-1876). He married Rosine Mueller (1836-1894), daughter of Ludwig Mueller, in 1861. He died in 1912 in Norfolk, Nebraska.
