History and genealogy of Joseph Dobson (1804-1872), and of his son Thomas Fernyhaugh Dobson (1837-1933), who was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. A brief history of Thomas's second wife, Elizabeth Wiseman (1857-1938) is included. Joseph Dobson and his family emigrated from Liverpool, England on board a ship "Alesto" on March, 1841, and arrived in New Orleans on May 16, 1841. Elizabeth Wiseman also emigrated from England around 1880.

Description
John Wiseman was born in Berks Co., Pennsylvania in 1760 and moved to Rockingham Co., Virginia and then Monroe Co., Virginia. He served in the Revolutionary army and married Sarah Green in 1786. In 1818/1819 they moved to New Salem, Ohio.

Description
William James Stairs, son of William Stairs and Margaret Wiseman, was born in 1819 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He married Susanna Duffus Morrow, daughter of John Morrow and Mary Anne Duffus, 16 June 1845. They had thirteen children. He died in 1906. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ireland, Scotland, Massachusetts and Nova Scotia.

Chiefly follows the descendants of Patrick Gleason. He was born in 1828 in Tipperary County, Ireland. He married Bridget Mary Evaiston 3 Aug 1856 in Louisville, Kentucky. He died 7 Jan 1900 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Bridget was born 1838 in Ireland and died 26 Nov 1901 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They were the parents of five sons and two daughters. Patrick immigrated to the United States 3 July 1849. Descendants lived in Indiana, and Kentucky.

Joseph Walter Harvey was born 27 January 1866 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He was the son of George W. Harvey and Sarah Rachel Wolfe. He came to the Walla Walla district of Washington in 1883 and married Mary Elizabeth Wiseman in 1887. They were the parents of five children. Joseph died in Iowa 19 December 1942. Descendants lived primarily in Iowa, Washington and elsewhere.

In 1666 three sons of Sir John Hinton (1603-1682) emigrated from England to Maryland. The descendants of Thomas (b.1638) lived in New York, Pennsylvania and the northeast; Clement (b.1645) had no descendants; and the descendants of Richard (b.1641) settled in Virginia. In 1710, three sons of Sir James Hinton (b.1640) and grandsons of Sir John Hinton, immigrated to Chowan County, North Carolina. They were William (d.1737), John (d.1732) and James....

Andrew Hastings Doyle, son of Bartholamew Doyle and Bridget Nugent, was born in 1774 in Dublin, Ireland. He married Sophia Isabella Norris (1769-1855), daughter of John Norris and Mary Jouanier, in 1792. They had seven children. They immigrated to Australia in 1803. He died in 1841 in Sackville Reach, New South Wales.
