Louisa Magleby was born in Monroe, Utah to John Ephraim Magleby and Jane Adam Warnock. She was the seventh of ten children. She married Lloyd Hubbard Redford in 1930. They had three children together. They divorced in 1938 and Louisa married Gordon Leroy Woodmansee in 1944. Louisa graduated from Brigham Young University in 1927 and taught school in Vernal, Mt. Pleasant, Ogden, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
