In 1843, the Dockery family settled Hanging Dog, Cherokee County, North Carolina, and remained in that Appalachian region for generations. Some descendants and related families later migrated into Arizona, California, Georgia, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and elsewhere.

Nicolas Le Roy was born 25 May 1639 in Ste. Remi, Dieppe, diocese of Rouen, Normandy, France and died between April 1690 and October 1691 in La Durantaye, Quebec, Canada. His parents were Louis Le Roy and Anne Le Maistre. He married Jeanne Lelievre 27 February 1657/8 in St-Jean-de-Montagbe, Dieppe, Normandy, France. Nicolas and his family immigrated to Quebec after the birth of their second child in 16660/1. Descdendants have lived mainly in Quebec.

Glenn Cyrus Carter was born in Clinton, Missouri to Ernest Carter and Isa Pearl Cowan. Lists 37 ancestors for 10 generations. The Carter line is traced back to Lyman Martin Carter (b. 1815) of Vermont and Missouri. Joseph Woody immigrated to North Carolina before the Revolutionary War. His grandson, Joseph, was born in North Carolina in 1780 and married Sarah Thompson. The moved to Lawrence County, Indiana in 1813. Some descendants moved to Iowa, California, Oregon, and elsewhere.

Richard Woody came to Roxbury, Massachusetts from Kent, England in 1638 with his wife, Ann and children. He later died in 1658. One descendant, John Woody, and his wife, Mary Gowan, moved to Maryland in 1744 and then to North Carolina in 1755. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, and elsewhere.
