Joseph Woolsey (1771-1839), son of Richard Woolsey (1747-1825) and Nancy Plumstead, was born in Ulster County, New York. He married Mary 'Polly Cazier and they had three children. He married Abigail Schaeffer (1786-1848) in about 1803 in Kentucky. They had twelve children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois, Indiana, Utah and California.

John Woolsey (1737-1819) was born in New York and moved with his family to Fincastle County, Virginia. He married Sarah Oliphant and they were the parents of fourteen children. John and his family moved to Greene County, Tennessee in 1784. A brother of John Woolsey was also named John Woolsey (1763-1842) and he married Mary Gilbert and they were the parents of at least four children. They lived for a time in Greene County and then moved to Illinois...

George Woolsey was born in 1610 in England and married Rebecca Cornell in 1647. He had immigrated in 1623 to New Amsterdam, and settled on Long Island. He died in 1698. Includes Bernardy, Hemstreet, Nelson and related families.
