An individual probate file within a collection of probate records may receive actions which supercede the inclusive dates of those records. Therefore the catalog entry will reflect the latest date found within the file, and does not necessarily represent the date of the ending file in the record.

The area was first settled around 1856 but the town of Howard Lake was not incorporated until 1878.
