"It is a tradition in the family that Nicholas Gentry and his brother Samuel Gentry were British soldiers, who came to America at the time of the Bacon Rebellion." Such soldiers were discharged in 1683, and Nicholas and Samuel Gentry became land-owners in New Kent (later Hanover) Co., Virginia in 1684.

Francis Lyford was first located on record in the city of Boston as a mariner in the year 1667. He married twice and lived in the Colony of Massachusetts until his move to Exeter, New Hampshire ca. 1683. Francis had ten children and died ca. 1724 in New Hampshire. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Virginia, Vermont and elsewhere.

George Gundry (1795-1863) came from Baughurst, Hampshire County, England, son of George and Elizabeth Gundry. He married Jane Smith and later died in Mundy Township, Genesee County, Michigan. Descendants lived in Michigan and elsewhere.

William Pressley Hodges (1857-1936), son of Nancy Duncan Hensley and her second husband, Jesse M. Hodges, was born in Searcy Co., Arkansas. He married 1882 Mary Lucretia Taylor (1867-1921), daughter of Capt. B.F. Taylor of Snowball, Searcy Co., Ark. They had thirteen children born in Arkansas and Missouri. Descendants and relatives lived in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.

Charles Keyser (ca. 1702-1778) emigrated in 1749 from Germany to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Grossgloss. They moved to Virginia. Charles served with General Braddock in 1755 and moved to Shenandoah County, Virginia, in 1765. Relatives and members of these families lived in Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ohio, Illinois, West Virginia and elsewhere.

Benjamin Brackett (ca. 1740-1810) was living at or near Charleston, South Carolina, 1767-1770. By 1772, he was living in Old Tyron County, North Carolina. He was in Rutherford County, North Carolina, by 1800 and had moved to Burke County, North Carolina, by 1805. He married twice and was the father of at least seven children. He died before July 1810.
