Richard Holland was born in 1800 in North Carolina. His parents were Richard Holland and Nina Taylor. He married Elizabeth Hensley, daughter of James Hensley and Nancy Anderson, in 1825 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. They had fourteen children. Richard died after 31 May 1875. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and California.

John Hale was born in 1754 in Bedford County, Virginia. He served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He married Mary Hail 17 August 1793 in Wythe County, Virginia. George Carroll Wilkinson, Sr. (1908-1993) was born in Carson, Virginia to Thomas Redmond Wilkinson (1872-1917) and Linda Harville Magee (1876-1958). The Wilkinson family has been in Virginia since the early 1600s. In 1936 George married Virginia Lee Cox (1908-1963), daughter of Eugene Lee Cox (1868-1918) and Alice Greenaway Goodwyn (1886-1971). She was also from an old Virginia heritage. George and Virginia were the parents of two sons.
