John Smith was born ca. 1700 at Knapdale, Argyllshire, Scotland. He married Margaret Gilchrist in Scotland ca. 1717. John Smith was in Cumberland County, North Carolina in 1734 and later died ca. 1749. Their son, Malcom, married Mrs. Sarah Peterson McKissick. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Alabama, and elsewhere.

Benjamin Asa Yarbrough (ca. 1758-ca. 1818) was born in North Carolina and in 1790 lived in Marion County, South Carolina. He died in Darlington District, South Carolina and his widow, Rachel, moved to Georgia. His son, George (1803-1876), lived in Georgia and Alabama. Descendants lived in Alabama, and elsewhere. Gersham Tussey was born 15 February 1801 in the Jersey Settlement of Rowan Co., (now Davidson Co.) North Carolina. He was the son of John Tussey and Elizabeth Hunt. Gersham married Sarah Byerly ca. 1823. She died ca. 1836 and Gersham married Katharine Lopp Wagner 15 June 1837. Gersham lived in North Carolina and became the father of ten known children. Descendnts lived in North Carolina, Missouri, Pennsylvania and elsewhre.

James Philips immigrated about 1620 from Wales or Holland to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Descendants lived in New England, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, California and elsewhere. Includes ancestors in England and Wales.

John Newman and Polly Martin married on 30 May 1801 in Crawford County, Georgia. Their son Martin Newman (born in 1802) married Flora Ann Willis, from Richmond County, Georgia on 23 January 1823. That summer they moved to Alabama and began a large family. Later they moved to Texas. Descendants live in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, California, Oregon, and elsewhere.

James Russey (Jacques de Russy), a Huguenot, immigrated from France to America to fight in the Revolutionary War. He married about about 1778, settled in Gloucester Co., Virginia and later moved to Winchester Tennessee about 1810.

Robert Allen (d.ca.1756) was probably born before 1682, married Sarah Walker, daughter of William Walker, and they had at least six sons. They lived in New Kent and Henrico Counties, Virginia. In the first part of this work, the authors present several Allen immigrants, two of whom have been alleged to be the father of Robert Allen, although the authors feel neither relationship can be proven. Samuel Mathews was born in 1592 in Bristol, England. His father was Sir Tobias Mathews, Archbishop of York. He immigrated to America in 1622. He married Mary Frances Hinton in about 1629. They had two sons. Samuel was governor of Virginia from 1658 until his death in 1660. Richard Kirkland lived in Baltimore County, Maryland. He married Mary. They had four sons.
