The family of Caynton appears to have originated in Cheshire and to have been living at caynton as early as 1135. The de Cayntons acted as sheriffs of Salop and Staffordshire. Thomas le Yonge (ca. 1380) was from Ludlow and Sibdon, Salop (Shropshire). He was a Member of Parliament and is said to have descended from Randolph of Aston near Newport (Salop). He married Margaret de Caynton, heiress of Caynton, and eventually inherited the Caynton estates....
