These records appear to be divided into school districts. They include Eliasville, Newcastle, Graham, Olney and Young counties.
Most school census records were alphabetized but we did find some out of sequence with each year. Also, some year numbers are mixed and it appears that the year wasn't crossed out or changed and should have been.

Fort Belknap was established in 1851 following the Mexican War when the Texas frontier was being ravished by Comanche-Kiowa raids. It was an anchor of a chain of outer border posts stretching from the Red River to the Rio Grande. Until 1865, it was the key post in the protetion of the exposed frontier.
