Johann Friedrich Nülck was born 14 May 1828 in Klain Raden, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. His parents were Johann Joachim Wilhelm Nülck and Maria Elisabeth Catharina Lübow. He emigrated in 1856 and settled in Illinois. He married Maria Christiana Dorthea Bauer, daughter of Johann Albrecht Bauer and Marie Dorothea Willer, 21 October 1858 in Salem, Wisconsin.
