Traces the Colquhoun/Calhoun line of Gladys Irene Calhoun (b. 1908), the author's mother. The first ancestor listed is Umfridus de Kilpatrick (ca. 1190-1260) of Dumbartonshire, Scotland. A descendant, John Calhoun (1710/11-1758), immigrated from Ireland to America and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He married Rebecca Byers ca. 1733/34.

Matthew Camfield was born in 1604 at Harlestone, Northamptonshire, England. He was settled in New Haven, Connecticut by 1637. He married Sarah Treat (b. 1620) ca. 1643-44. Matthew died in 1673 at Newark, New Jersey. Traces the author's line of descent from Matthew and Sarah. Also includes information on Matthew's Camfield ancestors.

Thomas Westall (died 1833), son of Andrew Westall, married Mary Brittain ca. 1804. They were in Buncombe County, North Carolina in 1810. Their son, William Brittain Westall (1805-1882), married Matilda Penland and later Madelyn Angel. He died in Yancey County, North Carolina. Includes history of many other ancestral families, including Blankinships who are traced to Austin Blankinship (1820-1863), born in Kentucky, married to Susan Carpenter (1827-1865)....
