Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Clay families who came mainly from England and immigrated to America. His descendants lived in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere. It also includes transcripts of various Clay genealogies and families histories researched in cooperation with the first series of this quarterly. Includes data from local (Bible, cemetery), county (vital records, land and property, probate, etc.), state and federal (census, military, pension, etc.).
Original Version
Microreproduction of periodical published:,Houston, Texas : Clay Family Association, [1975].,[1 v.].
Issuing Body
The Clay Family Association was established by George R. Clay in the 1960s. Its headquarters was in Houston, Texas. George also began publication of "Clay family quarterly" which was published in a first and second series. When George became too ill to continue, Gynger Cook purchased the original masters of "Clay family quarterly" from him. The Association went into dormancy until 1999, when it was revived as the Clay Family Gathering. At their first gathering in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2001, the family voted to establish a new Clay Family Society. Gynger Cook publishes their newsletter called "Pieces of Clay." Segments of the original Clay family quarterlies will occasionally be re-issued in the "Pieces of Clay." For more information, see their Web site.
