Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Weedman (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Germany, Holland, Sweden, and Switzerland. Some focus is on (but not limited to) three immigrant ancestors: Christian Weedman, Sr., Olaf Weedman Sr., and Philip (Felipe) William Weedman. Christian Weedman Sr. immigrated to America in 1750. He and his wife, Elizabeth had ten children. They settled in Hampshire County, Virginia before 1762, moved to what was then Fairfield County in 1765, lived in Fayette County, Pennsylvania from 1765-1799, then moved to Perry County, Ohio. One descendant was George Weedman, who settled Farmer City in 1830, and established a large family in DeWitt and McLean Counties, Illinois. Olaf Weedman Sr. was born in Ockelbo, Sweden in 1821. He married Brita Andersdotter and settled in Knox County, Illinois in 1855. Philip (Felipe) William Weedman was born ca. 1785 in Mainz, Germany. He married Mary Barbara Antonia Hainsman in 1804 in St. Augustine, Florida, and had eight children. In the 1600-1800s, Weedmans settled in British Columbia and Ontario (Canada), India, and in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in Manitoba (Canada), Zimbabwe, and in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Hawaii, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, and elsewhere. Some had Nansemond Nation American Indian bloodlines. Adoptions, births, marriages, deaths, and other information is taken from cemetery records, family histories, land grants, obituaries, shared research, Social Security Death Index, tax lists, wills, and other sources. Years covered are the 1600s to the present. Subscription and other information is available on their Web site.
