Hanson Hobbs was born in Maryland in 1765 or 1771, the son of Hanson and _______ Greenberry Hobbs. He married Mary Ann Shipley (1767- 1848) in 1791 in Baltimore County, Maryland. They had ten children. The family migrated from Howard County, Maryland, to Burgettstown, Pennsylvania in 1801. He died in 1854 in Knox County, Ohio. Descendants listed lived in Ohio, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.
