His son, Frederick Smithson, came to America and settled in Illinois. His son was Edmond Shirtcliffe Smithson (1864-1956) who was born in Minnesota. Edmond married Ella Nora Geer (1869-1944) in 1886. Ulah Viola Wall was born August 9, 1899 in Ruggs Bluff, Louisiana, daughter of William Henry Wall and Lillie Alice Gates. She married Nephi Smithson on April 5, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died 31 October 1982. Nephi Smithson was born January 7, 1895 in Price, Utah, son of Nephi Smithson Sr. and Barbara Ellen Cook. He died 11 June 1970. The couple had eleven children born to them.

Thomas Smithson (ca. 1675-1732) married Ann Scott, daughter of Daniel and Jane Johnson Scott, ca. 1703 in Maryland. They had eight children, 1704-1720. He died in Baltimore County, Maryland. Descendants of his sons, Thomas Smithson (1712-1795) and Daniel Smithson (b. 1714), listed lived in Maryland, Georgia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois, and elsewhere. John Elleman/Eliman/Elliman (1696-1775) was born in England and died at Bush River, Newberry Co., S.C. In 1724, he married Mary John (1706- 1787). She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret John. They left Pennsylvania in 1758 to go to Newberry Co., S.C. There they reared nine children. David Smithson (1800-1865) was born in either N.C. or Va. In 1826, he married "Betsy" Williams (1813-1895) in Grant Co., Ind. They both died in Wayne Co., Ind. Betsy was the daughter of Isaac and Sarah Jessup Williams, who migrated from Va., to Highland Co., Ohio about 1812. David and Betsy had at least 7 children. Captain Thomas Smithson (ca. 1670-ca. 1770) was born in England. He married [Miss] Murden (1671-1724) in 1689 at Pasquotank Co., N.C. Their daughter married Jeremiah Murden and Thomas Relfe.
